Want the heritage look and the most versatile pair? Go High. Want an everyday, easy-to-wear shoe that goes with anything? Go Low. The Mid sits in between and is usually the most affordable — a fine entry point, though collectors tend to prefer the High and the Low.
Air Jordan 1 High
The original 1985 silhouette. The collar sits above the ankle, carries the 'Wings' logo and gives that instantly recognisable profile. It's the most photographed, most hyped and most collected of the three, and the version most limited and collab colourways release in.
Trade-offs: the high collar is stiff out of the box and takes a few wears to break in, and premium colourways command the highest prices and the strongest resale.

Air Jordan 1 Mid
The Mid's collar sits right around the ankle with extra foam padding, so it's comfortable straight away. It's produced in far greater numbers than the High, which keeps it the most budget-friendly way into the silhouette.
The catch: the Mid's tooling differs slightly from the High, so purists don't treat it as a substitute for the 'real' Jordan 1, and most general-release Mids hold little resale value. If you love a specific Mid colourway and want it to wear, that's a great reason to buy — just don't expect it to appreciate.

Air Jordan 1 Low
The Low cuts below the ankle for a lighter, more breathable, easy-on-easy-off shoe. It's had a huge resurgence and now rivals the High for everyday popularity, with plenty of clean colourways and regular collabs of its own.
It loses the ankle support and the Wings-logo profile of the High, but for daily wear in warm weather it's the easiest of the three to live in.

Buy the High if you want the heritage silhouette and don't mind a short break-in. Buy the Low if you want a versatile everyday shoe. Buy the Mid if budget is the priority and you've found a colourway you genuinely like — just go in knowing it's the least collectible of the three.
